To become a Chartered Certified Accountant, learners must pass 13 modules plus the Ethics and Professional Skills module. These could be less when exemptions are granted for prior qualifications. ACCA and Oxford Brookes University have developed a BSc Degree in Applied Accounting which is available exclusively to ACCA learners who wish to obtain a degree while studying towards completing their ACCA qualifications.

To obtain the BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting, learners must fulfill the following condition:

  • Pass the ACCA a Fundamental Modules
  • Complete a Research and Analysis Project (RAP) of 5000 word counts.
  • Complete a Key Skill Statement (KSS) of 1500 words.
  • Attend at least three meetings with a mentor.
  • Present your project to the mentor and if possible to a peer group of students.
  • The degree must be completed within 10 years of learner’s registration with ACCA, otherwise eligibility will be withdrawn.

Ascent University College (AUC) has a project mentoring service for RAP and KSS, whereby a nominated mentor, employed by AUC will provide you with the following support services.

  • Mentoring meeting offering guidance and counseling (as appropriate) at agreed times and dates.
  • Assistance in choosing your research topic.
  • Guidance or research sources and methods.
  • Review and assessment of your draft project and critical commentary.
  • Appropriate training for the project presentation. Unrestricted and high quality mentoring services.
  • As many meetings as you need for a successful project. Comprehensive support up to the submission of a successful project.

AUC mentoring service is uniquely extended to include additional lecture for learners in the following:

  • Coaching in presentation skills for the project presentation.
  • English language skills- to install more proficiency into the writing of your project.
  • Advice on referencing to avoid plagiarism and amplify comprehension by assessors.

By submitting a dissertation, you will be able to get a University degree in Accounting and Finance within months of completing the fundamental modules of your ACCA.

You can also opt to continue with the professional modules of your ACCA thereby progressing to be fully qualified. Once you’ve completed your ACCA, you can opt to do a Master’s degree in any UK university most of which you will only need to write a dissertation to be awarded a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance.

Minimum 5 O/Level credits including English Language and Mathematics.

3 – 4 Years

Closed book examinations

  • ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business is equivalent to the first year of a British University Degree in Accounting and Finance.
  • The Applied Skills Level is equivalent to the final year class of a British university degree in Accounting and Finance.
  • The Strategic Professional Level is equivalent to a UK Master’s degree.

On successfully completing the Applied Knowledge Level (ACCA Diploma in Accounting) you may be admitted into the second year of a British University Degree in Accounting.

On successfully completing the ACCA Applied Skills Level, you can progress to the final year top up degree in Accounting and Finance with advanced standing.

Successful learner who passed the Strategic Professional Level will be admitted to the MSc Accounting and Finance top-up degree with advanced standing, having to complete a dissertation only to be awarded a full MSc degree.
